Seocheon county, located in the middle of the West Sea in Korea, covers the area of 358.03§´, which stand at 4.2 % of the total territory of Chungcheongnam province. Seocheon is divided into 2 towns, 11 subcounties.
The weather in Seocheon is mild and warm. It has obvious four seasons, spring, summer, fall and winter. During winter season, it is cold and dry. On the contrary, it has moist southwest wind during summer season. The weather in Seocheon during summer season has similar with the tropic zone as the highest temperature on August, the rainy season on June, July and August. The lowest temperature on January and the least rain on December till February.
Seocheon is a small city harmonized with farm, fish and river. As located in the southern part of the Chungcheongnam province, Seocheon has many beautiful places through the way of the Golden river all the way down to the West sea. Because it has extensive fields and farms serving as good food for the birds, it is also famous for one of the visiting place for seasonal birds. Thousands kinds of seasonal birds are visiting every year.
It also has beautiful seashore facing the West sea about 72.5 km. Especially, as it has the rias coast with many sandy plains, muds, bays, it has been reported as the good natural source of marine products. Because the difference between the rise and fall of the tide are big and shallow seashore, it has slow sandy beach good for the swimming, walking and digging out shellfishes. With all these good environments, it has been reported one of the best rest area in Korea.
Seocheon is also famous for the several specialties. Because of its location, there has been international trade with China from long time ago. Several historical architectures, towers, especially Hansan ramie fabrics and rice wine are the most famous specialties.
